Welcome to Mifi Broadband, the UK’s leading guide to the latest technology development to hit the mobile broadband market...MiFi.

So what exactly is MiFi?
In a nutshell, MiFi is a 3g enabled standalone device which captures a 3g signal from a mobile network and converts it into a local WiFi network. Whereas, ‘traditional’ Mobile Broadband Dongles provide broadband connectivity to a single device (typically via USB connection), the MiFi device can provide internet connectivity to a number of different devices simultaneously.

There are currently 5 suppliers in the market offering MiFi:

MiFi broadband is proving to be particularly popular amongst business users. In the days before MiFi, two business people having a meeting and both needing an internet connection would have had to either have their own usb dongle or find a venue which offers WFi hotspot. The MiFi solves all this by providing a shareable local WiFi network wherever you are.

MiFi is a compact but powerful device that allows multiple wireless enabled electronic gadgets to access the internet.

Although choices are limited when purchasing a suitable MiFi modem it is still very important to take into consideration all features and facilities available with different mobile broadband MiFi modems on offer. There are a number of areas to consider such as cost, speed, download allowance and length of contract.
